Automating more than 50 Workflows, EditShare’s Secure Hybrid Media Foundation Ensures Zero Downtime for TV5’s Remote Productions
Boston, MA – October 1, 2020 – EditShare®, a technology leader that specializes in collaboration, security, and intelligent storage solutions, is helping broadcasters and media companies increase remote content production output to meet growing programming demands with its EFS shared storage and FLOW media management solutions. Phillipine-based TV5, a subsidiary of telecommunications giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone company (PLDT), implemented EditShare’s collaborative solutions at its Reliance and Novaliches operations, leveraging FLOW’s smart workflow and cloud capabilities to automate more than 50 manual workflows and increase remote production content output by up to 40%.
“With the pandemic, many staff had to work from home and thus we were unable to create enough new program content for our own schedule and for our partner channel and networks. To fill the programming demands, we used EditShare to tap into our archives, repackage content and share programs with our sister channels. We were able to use FLOW to automate many tasks and work remotely without having to add resources or increase the team’s workload,” states Angelito R. Salazar Jr., head of post-production, TV5. “EditShare professional services was key in helping us design the automated workflows. They dug deep into our operation to understand the review, approval and delivery process, helping us create the best possible workflow design.”
TV5, one of three main broadcasters in the Philippines, is dedicated to creating and delivering news, sports and thematic programming for the Philippine community and beyond. EditShare’s end-to-end smart workflow solutions offered a secure network enabling the TV5 team to remotely access content and facilitate the often extensive review and approval process and share newly created program packages from existing archives across sites and partner channels.
“It is EditShare’s open platform and cloud innovation that enables our clients to adapt their workflows and reimagine their business operations” states Alan Dishington, vice president of sales for APAC, EditShare. “TV5 is a prime example of how customers are using EditShare’s solutions in a secure hybrid cloud to successfully facilitate and automate their remote productions while massively scaling content output all without increasing resources. It’s a winning technology combination that is helping business thrive.”

Flexible and open for integration, FLOW provides “out of the box” automation capabilities with versatile on premise, cloud and hybrid deployment options to maximize remote productions
Boston, MA – September 1, 2020 – EditShare®, a technology leader that specializes in collaboration, security, and intelligent storage solutions for media creation and management, today announced its FLOW media management solution was recognized in Omdia’s “On the Radar Media Asset Management Solutions” report. The research series highlights those vendors who bring innovative ideas, products, or business models to their respective markets. Omdia cited the open platform and out-of-the-box, node-based “do-it-yourself” automation capabilities of FLOW as reasons for making the list of media asset management (MAM) vendors to watch. Also noted as a key point is FLOW’s versatility and “well rounded approach” to asset lifecycle automation through tight integration with both industry 3rd party storage and EditShare’s EFS storage enabling enterprises to maximize asset value and lower total cost of ownership.
“Deep control over assets is important for media operations, and many have it until there is a change in their business strategy,” states Sunil Mudholkar, vice president of product management, EditShare. “With FLOW, we are empowering customers with a highly versatile, open platform that can adjust with their ever-changing business demands. Its simple-to-use tools let customers automate processes and entire workflows. The public API lets them connect important systems and data to ensure workflow continuity across the operation from ingest to archive. And our innovation in cloud across all its products means that you can take your media operation from on-premise to remote overnight.”
Omdia notes that third-party integration, which are capabilities inherent in FLOW’s Skinny MAM architecture and APIs, is important for MAM automation given the multiple asset touchpoints across the supply chain. FLOW administrators and end users can easily connect other applications and create seamless workflows across ingest, production and craft editing. With the release of the cloud-based EFSv, enterprises can virtualize and scale these workflows which is critical in the current climate.
Principal Consultant of Media Technology at Omdia, Kedar Mohite, comments on the evolving market dynamics and need for automation, “As multidimensional access, and collaboration across multi-faceted remote workgroups becomes pivotal for competitive edge; EditShare’s automated media management proposition, open ecosystem and cloud innovation is well positioned to meet this new normal business requirement.“
FLOW is part of EditShare’s uniquely powerful technology that is redefining media asset management and shared, collaborative storage. With a “Skinny MAM ” approach that avoids bloated code, built on micro services and open APIs, EditShare’s design ethos is ideal for on premise and cloud workflows. The combination of FLOW and EditShare media optimized file system, EFS, is the foundation for a new relationship between creative artists and their content, always available and equally effective in a facility or when working remotely.
